    Default Mount ideas

Got a few ducks I've been wanting to mount, either widgeon, pintail mallard dead mount or pintail and mallard dead mount. Anyone got any pics to give me an idea on the dead mount or widgeon mounts. Thanks.

Go to Shane's site and go throughout the albums. Also Birdman taxidermy studios has a lot of pics to look through for ideas.

Dead mounts and standing mounts are much easier to move and take up a lot less room than a flying mount.

    That!

A dead mount with a few different species would be nice! GWT, BWT and a pintail/wigeon. Or, some other variety. Either way, spend some time and invest in something you are comfortable with. Standing mounts and dead mounts show a lot more plumage than "some" flying mounts IMHO. Either way, it's your $.

Another vote for dead mounts. I like them because of the ease of adding birds to the collection and not taking up a ton of space

Here is a picture of a mount I had done last season. My taxidermist called it a true dead mount. I had seen this one time before and I just liked it.

Here's a wigeon I got mounted. Dead mounts rock in my opinion.
“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”

Here's a pic of my dead mount in a case. Poor lighting so the cell pic is grainy. I found a pic online of a mallard/gadwal dead mount and he did it exactly as I showed him. The pintail was my idea.

Trent, that's a sweet case of birds. May have to try something like that.

Here's a dead mount I did a few years ago but I like the case idea like Trent has going on there.

Hmmmm. Those dead mounts are giving me some good food for thoughts on a couple birds I have in the freezer.

    Nice mounts fellas.

Here is my wigeon. I added it to my shoveler and bwteal mount just to save room because I have so many.
