Default Milo vs. sorghum? milo just another name for grain sorghum? Or is milo a specific variety / cultivar of sorghum?

I've always thought they were the same thing, but recently noticed in some older literature that they seem to be discussed with different planting rates and cultural if they are two different plants.

Does anybody plant milo or sorghum for doves or ducks?

I'm pretty certain they are one in the same. Sorghum or milo was also referred to as "poor mans corn" years ago.

In a blend of seeds, doves will eat sorghum last. Cheap bird seed is loaded with sorghum. the better stuff has less.

Milo is a cultivar of grain sorghum that is adapted to be more drought tolerant. As far as production is concerned they are synonymous. If you plant grain sorghum younger planting Milo.

Sweet sorghum is different

Roger, have seen'em take the whole seed head in their mouth and clean it of with one quick slurp like a chicken wing... Great late winter cover crop and source for starch. Cheap alternative to corn for sure!
