Default Displaying an old bomber jacket.

For the past year, I have been researching my grandfathers B-17 group. My aunt had his leather bomber jacket and have it to me. I want to put it in some sort of display box, but don't want to destroy the leather. Any ideas? Thanks,

    Sean

I have part of my grandad's WWII locker in a shadow box type deal. Wood with leather handles. Seems to be holding up fine. I am sure there is a product out there to put on the leather to help preserve it.

How about framing it? I have seen this done with several jackets and it looks neat.

That is what I am thinking, a shadow box deal. I just don't want the leather to dry out.

Check out Meadow Display Cases. They should have something that will work for you.

Post pictures of whatever you come up with.....I would lean towards a shadow box.

These lockers were sitting in the pump shed at my grandparents house for many a year. The leather on it was cracking/rotting over time but it looks the same since when it was put in the shadow box....

See if someone can build you an airtight shadow box and either spray some nitrogen in it or run a vacuum on it before sealing it up...???

Just an idea. Not sure if it's feasible or not.

    Good luck!

Veterans Day reminded me that I had not shown the finished product.

My wife has her wedding veil in a sealed framed glass box (shadow box) filled with some kind of inert gas. I bought an antique artist's easel to put it on and it sits in the corner of our dining room. I'll try to get a pic of it later.

That's awesome. I need to ask my uncle is he has any of my grandpa's stuff from WWII.
