    Default dog bit by copperhead

My dog had a copperhead cornered in the back yard and by the time I got to her it had got her on the muzzle... it doesn't look like a bad bite but she is a little swollen. Coincidentally, I had just gotten back from the vet ...had to drop off my bloodhound who has to have a tumor removed from his rear (long story). So I'm already up to $2000 in vet bills for this past week and was wondering if I need to take my other dog in? It has been about 30 minutes and she appears to be doing fine besides the swelling.

U know it... I mean I would have liked a live copperhead selfie ...maybe with it wrapped around my arm but unfortunately, it was injured and I had to kill it.

Give it a couple of cans of evaporated milk. It acts as a foreign protein.

Will be fine be since it was a copperhead. A rattlesnake a different story. Just remove collar in case head neck area swell. Benadryl will also help. 2 pills then 6 hours later 2 more.

thanks for the responses. Looks like she is ok now. She is actually scared of snakes so I couldn't figure out why she would go after it. Turns out my son had come outside and when he walked toward the snake she got between him and the snake and then tried to kill it

How had it been "about 30 minutes" at 10:41pm and you took a daylight selfie with the snake....?

nice work detective... I had drafted the post then decided to research it on the internet... I always get distracted when researching things on the internet. Sure enough, some time later I found myself watching videos of snake fights... I found a video of a cottonmouth vs. a copperhead and of course I had to watch it. Next I decided to look at new guns, boats and other hunting stuff I don't need and remembered I have a $2800 vet bill for my other dog. After thinking about the $2800 vet bill I started drinking and man, you can lose track of time when you are drinking and searching for stuff on the internet. Finally, my wife comes down and asks me what I'm doing... at that point I remembered I hadn't posted my question so then I submitted it.
