Default Any pregnant does walking around?

'Cause we've still got one here that I saw as of two days ago. I'd swear she still hasn't dropped the lil' bugger she's carrying, although she looks ready.

What's the latest you guys have seen a doe give birth... or assume a date from the first date you've seen a new little fawn?

Had a pair born here last week. With that being said I have also killed does in early December with a 6-8 inch fetus.

That's sick man. You beat 'em with it or like stuff it in their mouths to choke 'em out?

I saw two fawns last week that looked to be only a few days old.

I had two in my yard today with their mom, that couldn't have started walking more than a day or two ago. Little wobbly things. They were beautiful and I was able to get a cell phone pic. They were on my corn pile at my back door.

All B.S. aside, half the does are fawning now and the other half are bred in October.

Our study showed that late born fawns had a much lower survival rate. The earliest born ones had the highest survival rate.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

I can understand that. Part of that concern is that last night was the first time in a LONG time that I heard a pack of coyotes in the area. A trapper has removed upwards of 70 'yotes in the past two years, but apparently they've started to move back in.

    Late birth means late breeding
Late breeding means too many does, buck doe ratio is not good
Too many does means shoot more does

    Shoot more does!!

In this immediate area that I hunt in, which is approximately 200 acres adjacent to my home, we regularly saw five does last year, with three of them being yearlings, and one yearling buck. Occasionally we'd see another buck or doe come through, but not very often. Most of the guys who hunt the area ended up hunting at other locations because of it and stricter rules were put on shooting bucks.

Btw, this estimated count also includes picture records from various game cams in the area, not just my own observations. It was just a low year here.

This year may be different, but only time will tell.

Get up at 5am tomorrow and go shine those beans and count the deer. Let know what the number is. Oh, and get that trapping dude back.

LOL... I wish I'd gotten some beans in, but we're seeing some interesting activity at the mineral blocks this year. That's all I'll admit to in public...
