Default Converting long shaft to short shaft

Anybody have any experience shortening the shaft length of an outboard? Or better yet, have someone who they'd recommend to do the job? Looking for a 15" motor is hell of a lot harder than a 20" motor. Almost to the point where I may try a conversion of I find the right motor for the right price.

What about building up your transom?

Strip boat. Building the transom taller will make the motor too high and therefor a little tougher to handle. Shorter shaft=less weight+lower center of gravity=faster. He's building a tall transom for now, until I find a 15" motor. I've found quite a few 20".

I have a 40 mid for a yam of you find one. Your shaft can be cut and rewelded.
