Another sure sign that the hunt draws near is the announcement of lottery drawings for waterfowl-hunting spots at a variety of sites, including Buckeye Lake State Park and the Hebron State Fish Hatchery.

Drawings for both sites will be held on Aug. 15 at the Buckeye Lake State Park office, 2905 Leibs Island Rd., Millersport. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Drawings for Buckeye Lake are scheduled at 8 a.m., followed by the drawings for Hebron.

Applicants must show in person and be able to produce proof of a current hunting license, an Ohio Wetlands Stamp, a signed 2015 or 2014 Federal Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp and Harvest Information Program certification.

Applicants under age 18 should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

A $50 nonrefundable permit fee, payable by cash, charge or check, will be collected from drawing winners.

Other drawings include:

• Magee Marsh Wildlife Area early teal and goose hunt on Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Registration begins at 5 p.m. Meet at the beach parking lot, 13229 W. State Rt. 2, Oak Harbor.

• Pipe Creek Wildlife Area waterfowl hunts and East Sandusky Bay Metro Park waterfowl hunts on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Registration begins at 5 p.m. at Osborn Park, 3910 Perkins Ave., Huron.

An entry deadline of Aug. 1 was set for a lottery drawing scheduled for hunting sites at Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area on the opening day of teal season or Labor Day. Entry requires a postcard.
