Why not hike a little ways and camp along the river? A couple years ago a few buddies and myself spent 3 days fishing and camping. We only brought a small amount of food and planned to eat some of the trout each day. Rainbow trout got old in a hurry and still haven't eaten any since that time.

I used to hike in with my 2 kids and camp on a feeder stream. We would hike upstream toward Ellicott Rock to a feeder that came in. We would hike up along the feeder creek to a flat spot on the side of the mountain and that's where we camped. We showered in the stream under a 10' waterfall a few more yards up the side of the mountain. Never saw anyone up there and there was a nice pool under the waterfall for my son and daughter to play and swim in. They were 6 years old when I started taking them. Before that I always went alone. Camped so much there over the years I felt like I owned that spot. I had some great times there with the kids. Yeah I know what the signs say, screw them.

Nice, MM. I may follow suit, depending on how many of my kids i end up taking.

There's some deep pools upstream that hold a few big fish. You can catch them at night tight lining on live crawfish. I've taken a few over 2 lbs and have heard of much larger ones coming out. You can't bottom bump live crawfish because they will get you hung under rocks every time. Use a swivel with a sinker above it and a leader of about 8" to 10" to let the crawfish move around some. The bait will still get you hung up on occasion but not every cast.

On occasion, you will catch some lovely couple "getting it on" on the rocks up there.
