    It was the buffalo, damnit.

Man and other animals were first vegetarians; then Noah and his sons were given permission to eat meat: “every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you” Genesis 9:3

Let it go, Gus'll wack a surly vet just as quick as he would a bartender.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Damn right! Gus left Texas because he was wanting to knock boots with Clara because he hadn't done so in years and she turned him down. He then went off to chase buffalo and the injuns shot him with a dirty arrow for trespassing on their hunting grounds, he got gangrene and died.

    THE END

If he was wise he would have stayed in Texas with his whiskey and whores.

Buncha damn racists and Coot Fans!

Jake liked to joke. He didn't like to work. I have exactly those same failings myself.

    I could believe that.

    - I could kick you for givin' him all them ideas about Montana. Now we're gonna suffer for the rest of our damn lives.

    - Yeah, I forgot how determined he can get, once an idea takes root.

I spent the summer cruising timber on the Blackfeet Indian Res back in 2005. That reservation is around 1.5 million acres and if I remember right, the forested acres were around 65,000. The rest was grasslands. It wasn't surprising to see cattle that escaped their fences and were hanging out on the road side. It's a interesting concept and I have a lot of respect for those folks and their history.
