    Default Training question

Is 1 yr old to late to start trying to train a lab for retrieveing and basic commands?

Do they normally do good at this age or are they hard headed?

Back in the days of Richard Wolters, his traning methods were revolutionary because other trainers would not begin working with a dog until it had reached 2 years of age. If the dog shows any prey drive and desire to retrieve, then you should have no problem.

A good friend of mine got his lab at almost a year of age and it did not even respond to his own name. Long story short he is now 3 and is a Qualified All Age Field Trial dog. It just depends on the dog, your goals, and patience with your progress. IMO
