Do you mow your fields all at once or do you mow strips and continue to mow as the season goes on? Post up what works for you.

strips, edges first... then a week later mow again and disc in the strips mowed from the week before. They seem to like disced strips next to mowed strips.
Need a lil more info.
How big is this field??
If it is small prollly need to do it all at once. If you have a bigger field with room to mow strips then do it that way.
I had a 4 acre field 3 years ago and mowed all of it. I still had seed and birds on Thanksgiving.

Oh yea doves love bare dirt.
Disc a couple strips and blow your trimmings from bushhog onto the plowed strips.

Birds love a burned offering. If you can control a burn, then 10 days before the season comes in burn about a 1/3 of what you've got. Birds love to munch on toasted sunflower seeds (or corn, or wheat, etc.).
the field is very small only about an acre and a half

Mow or chip some corn strips down on bare ground. Try to find a balance between enough feed on the ground and enough food to carry you thru the seasons.
You paid good money to plant/grow it right? Try to make it last as long as you can in hopes of consistant shooting thru the seasons. Get your money's worth instead of shooting it's wad in the early season.
