    I just read a post on bowsite where a guy cut them off about 4 ft high and grafted domestic pears to the stump and since the root was already established they took off. He said up to 4 ft of growth in one year. Pears in two yrs. He posted pictures of his work. Interesting

    Nothing to that process. We do it every year when we phase out a non producing or aged variety.
