There are conflicting issues of what happened, there were 2 x class solar flares. That is fact. Did it cause the outage?

Now along with this is a nation wide cyber attack on pharmacies...

So could the phone issue be a cyber attack, I'm with Jab in that if it was it didn't work so well. But it definitely has disrupted life for many. I few friends are effected and are having fits they have to stay near wifi. From reports 911 doesn't work but txt do?

Texts didn't work for me. If folks had wifi, they could use wifi for voice & text. I didn't have wifi & didn't even know there was a problem until I had to authenticate a login at work with my phone & it wouldn't function.

Having said that -- the rough number of 76,000 AT&T outages were self-reported. So, if you didn't have wifi, then you couldn't self-report.

This was VERY widespread.
