I made it out with the kids yesterday and the tailing action was hot! My girl ate a large slice of humble pie and realized that putting the fly in front of a fish is a little more challenging than putting it in a hula hoop in the yard. Made for a very frustrating dad moment.
She had one eat right in front of the boat place and stripped the fly right out of his mouth. He spun a couple of donuts looking for it and she never could put it back in his face

I have enjoyed watching the bass feeding behind the house during these last several day's tides. Trout fixing to die...
Always. I like to eat the just legals…
Big things I tell anglers on my boat when chasing tailing fish:
1. Make sure the rod tip is low and pointed down the line at the fly
2. Do a long slow strip as the fly comes in front of the fish. This will naturally set the hook most times as there will be tension on the line for the strike and take timing a set out of the equation.
Great on you for getting her out there and teaching! Getting humbled is a big part of making getting one in hand special.

That was a classy day, all it took to get gene tight on a fish was to get him away from your big mouth!
LMAO

Brought the spin rods out the last 2 days, lots of big fish up shallow.
