Mine is one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. The only training he needed was obedience. He has successfully blood tracked deer, can point, and waterfowl hunt. His only draw back is he doesn’t know when to quit. He hunts 24/7, all day everyday. If I don’t keep him entertained, he gets into trouble fast. He hates cats and will kill them with no mercy, his 2nd biggest hate is male dogs and coyotes. I can’t take him to dog parks or anything because the bastard wants to fight any dog that stands up to him. I’ve had multiple trainers and people try to help me, it’s just how he is. The only dog he feared was my wife’s 7lb chihuahua, he’d yelp and run from her in a heart beat.
He loves hunting absolutely anything, the only he loves more is my kids. They torture that dog but he goes every where with them and hates not being by their side. The GWP is a different dog than any lab I’ve owned. Good luck with yours, you’ll learn new cuss words fast.

“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”
--John Madson, The Mallard, 1960
"Never trust a duck hunter who cares more about his success than his dog's."
