ummm...yeah disregard that one...less than 10 dekes, plan on being mobile, no mojo, the biologist will tell you if you need to hold out for better ducks...the rest...if you know how to hunt ducks you'll figure it out, be where the ducks want to be any you don't need to worry about over calling

This is how you hunt the SCR if you desire to kill big ducks. Disregard if teal and spoonbills are your preference:
For you and you partner, you will need 4 large, quality blackduck decoys. No more.
They will assign you to a blind. Go to the blind and leave the boat. Otherwise, do not stop there. Move into the wind until you come to good cover at least 100 yards from the blind. Put out the 4 decoys, and stand there in the cover with your back to the wind and the decoys in front of you. Hunt there as the sun rises. You may get some shots, but the big ducks don't really start moving until later. Watch. You will begin to see blacks, pintail, widgeon, moving around singly and in pairs, dropping into isolated pockets in the marsh. Once you have identified a spot they seem to prefer, One of you should pick up 2 decoys, no more, and go there. The other guy goes to another spot. Put your 2 decoys close together in the center of an open spot, and find some grass to hide in. Get under the grass. Wear a face mask. Kneel down and put your nose to the water when ducks are looking. If you see ducke going down somewhere else, don't hesitate to move . Moving is the key. The urge to stay put is fatal. Now you know how. Go get'em.

listen to what GMAC just told you- you dont need to worry about being cold- moving around in them waders will heat your ass up-\

If you down a bird and the wind is blowing you better go after it pronto- unless the wind is blowing it back towards you- depending on when you are there- early or late season the later the season the more the muck a paddle could be your best friend in moving around- walk the unbeaten path!

Dang GMAC! Let'm learn the hard way, like we had too.

Only took about 3 or 4 draw hunts to figure it out.

Heck, I've laid down in the water without dekes. If they want in there, they'll come regardless. Makes it easier to move too.

Hey Sprigdog, From my experiences you may won't to get a sport stand for da pooch. (or Avery Rough Stand DM#1)

Dry ground is at a premium, and the ducks avoid dem blinds like de plague.

thats what i figured. hopefully being the first to hunt it (besides the youth) the birds wont be too spooked. we'll be adjusting to the what the birds want.
    thanks

I heard somewhere that JAB may have some good quality used dog stands.
