    Default Good Development...

Good to see these old industrial areas being redeveloped instead of whackin' down more trees and eliminating greenspace.

160 apartments are going in right behind my office in the complex where our gym used to be.

16 units will be subsidized housing
Does the rail still see rail traffic along that route?

Not bad little area that's for sure

The old spur line that fed those warehouses is now a Rail Trail walking/biking/running trail with a city park next to it.

We had an industrial site several years ago. They had a foundry and built ,forestry and excavation equipment , hydraulic stuff machine shop etc. Company sold out and moved. The county and city bought the property. The proposal was for a several hundred bed Old folks home but the site was too contaminated.

A fairly large grocery store was built instead along with a few restaurants . Still laugh at that one.

I am currently renovating an old textile building for our business. It’s fairly tedious.

I agree, good to see some older buildings being repurposed. Good for that area. I lived with some friends across Union on Forest Ave my senior year of high school. Nice quiet community over there, or at least it was 35-40 years ago.

selfishly i'm really bummed out that spartanburg is building more apartments. it's nice driving around town with no traffic and no greenville like yuppies.

It's being revitalized and turning into a good community.

I agree. However there isn't a lot that can be done with those old warehouses and Union street looks like a thumb somebody hit with a hammer. It needs cleaning up. There is a lot of development along the trails systems in Spartanburg. Odd that everyone flocks to a city to "be outside".
