Stump Sound creeks are where these are coming from
I like your posts ecu. In particular, the trout posts. Who is your enemy in the Stump Sound creeks?

Congrats ecu. Fish of a lifetime
Most any creeks over 4ft deep from Wilmington up to New Bern and Morehead that are within 4 or 5 miles of the ocean have trout in them this time of year.
There are two or three spots I have fished since I was a toddler with my Dad that consistently produce a few larger fish.
Most of these creeks aren't too deep (4ft to 10ft) but have a few deep holes (25ft to 30ft holes).
I usually don't catch them in the deep holes until it gets really really cold. Like temperatures in the teens
Usually they are in about a 5 or 6 ft deep section that has a steep drop off into deeper water real close by.
I have always been told they like that deep water close by to escape into.
These big fish are females that travel to the back of the creeks to spawn. If you are not catching them, go further back.
It's hit or miss, one day the bite is on fire for a week and then will shut down just like someone flipped a switch for a week.
It helps that I have family members still there that fish about every day and I get the call when they turn on.

Guess it wasn't a tournament fish?

Record has been broken again.

I haven't heard or seen that, I have been in meetings all day.
I just sent a few texts to my buddies back home asking if anyone had the story or pics
The current NC record to beat is 12lb 8oz
I am willing to bet if broken, it came from the lower Neuse River, New Bern's Pamlico Sound area creeks

Heard it was caught in a spot 3 miles from my hole, so I’m gonna claim it.
