You must have never shot doves in late season over a 600/acre corn or soybean field 2th. serious

    federeal heavy game load

    1 1/8 ounce of shot with 3 1/4 dram

    and 7 1/2 shot

thats all i ever use for doves. The low brass loads just seem to put them down as good.

What does the height of the brass have to do with anything?

i wonder how dead y'all want these things. I should take some pics of the doves I have cleaned this year. They have enough holes in them and I am pretty sure I havent shot over a 1oz load all year. What does shooting a 7.5 have to do with late season? I just never get this and I guess its infinitesimally small that I might be wrong....

but why shoot "heavy" 7.5s or heaven forbid 6s? how about just take shots you can hit and go pick them up.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

So far, I've shot Estates, Rios (ARETENS for y'all upstaters), Winchesters, and Federals. 8s and 7.5s. All were light loads, all resulted in dead doves when I did my part.

2th - one of the reasons I shoot 7.5s often, is that when picking birds, the 7.5s usually carry on through the breastbone vs. 8s and smaller I tend to find a pellet or two lodged against the breast bone, occasionally.

I know you don't like that, from a dental perspective, but chipping teeth on lead isn't ideal, for me.

I've shot them with 9s and 6s, with similar results, and because those were the shells I had on hand at the moment.

It doesn't. There was a difference when shells used to be paper hulls but you can't judge how much "power" a plastic shell has based on the height of brass. Normally a high brass hull now means the plastic wall is thinner and has to be "high brass" to handle the pressures.

    Horse shit.

    The chamber "handles" all pressure.
