Do you let your dog have toys to stay occupied or are you concerned it may cause mouth issues in the field?

It you don't give them something to chew on or play with, they will find something on their own.
we give ours antlers and bison horns. They're durable, good for the dogs and it keeps them busy and away from things they shouldn't be chewing on. We have 3 labs and none of them have hard mouth in the field, including the 3 month old puppy.
Let my lab have tennis balls an it has ruined her. If u take her ball she goes ape shit an if she doesn't have one already all she cares about is finding one.
Tearing apart a $2 toy is better than it tearing apart your $100 pair of boots on the porch.
Antlers are good. I give mine chews, but not toys. I don't want her thinking that anything is hers. She brings things to me. I don't know if that actually makes any sort of difference, but I haven't had to chase her to get a bird delivered.
Tennis balls for mine. Bet he has 20 stashed around the yard, one favorite though that he removed the cover and plays with the core.
* Not a hunter just family dog.
Mine get marrow bones. When I'm up north the butcher will cut them for cheap. I always bring a load back down. They need something to chew on. Just make sure it's nothing that is ever thrown for them.
