.223 marlin xs7vh 26in 1:9 twist heavy barrel vortex 4-12x44. Have a bi pod and cheek pad and on the way probally gonna get a rifle basixs or timney trigger soon also. As far as off the shelf ammo goes for accuracy any recomendations on what to try?

Federal Gold Medal 69 gr SMK
Black Hills Heavy Match 68 gr BTHP
Hornady Match 75 gr BTHP
I've used all three shooting steel out to 600 yds. All are good, see what your rifle prefers.
From the reviews I have read these Marlins are supposed to be shooters. I have been eyeing a stainless 30-06 on Gunbroker for some time. What is the lightest you can adjust that factory trigger to?
As was mentioned FGMM. Got a great handload recipe but guess that ain't in the mix.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
Shot it today and its a solid shooter i was putting 55gr fmjs in a 1 1/2in group without a rest at 125yrds
Thats pretty good. It should shoot match ammo better.
I believe the gun will shoot great.
The shooter will not.
CWPINST what is the recipe you have in mind?
I'm still trying to find a load mine likes.
FLS are you getting a 1:9 to stabilize the hornady 75?
My match rifles are 1-8. Each has its own preference. The Nordic barrel built on a Wilson match blank will shoot anything pretty good and will shoot bug holes with 69 SMK's and 68 Hornady BTHP's. My Shilen upper shoots the 69's ok but loves the 75's.
My sons rifle has a 1-9 twist and shoots the 77's and 75's very well. You just have to shoot them and see. The mantra that 1-9 won't shoot heavy or 1-7 won't shoot light bullets well is bullshit. You have to shoot them and see what your individual barrel shoots well.
I should have listed the Hornady Steel Match ammo as well. I shot a 3 gun Saturday and a lot of your better shooters are shooting it, especially in lost brass matches. They have a 55 and 75 gr load in .223 and a 155 load in 308. I bought 1000 rounds of the 155 to shoot out of my AR10. It's good stuff, not super fast but very accurate.
