An ichneumonid wasp inserting her ovipositor into a tree. She will lay eggs into a beetle larva living inside the wood. The wasp eggs will hatch and consume the beetle larvae! Cute! I caught one of these in the Sierra Nevada a few months ago. They look like they have a super long stinger, but they actually cannot sting.
