    Traditional layouts are usually anchored and a tender boat is needed to pick up dead ducks and decoys, as well as for safety. Some do come with a small motor mount, but why would anyone put a motor on a layout? There is barely enough room in ours to laydown and I don't know where you would put a battery or a gas tank? There are other options besides a layout if you want to run around and hunt. We hunt big water, and there is no way I would putter out 2 or 3 miles from shore in a little bitty boat by myself.

    This is what we have, and we have killed quite a few birds out of it.
