Looking to buy a 84 inch rotary cutter. I want heavy duty, single spindle.
Anyone have any opinions? Looking at Brown, Bush Hog and Rhino right now.

Got a 72" Rhino, it's tough, been through HELL with it too. Hit a stump with it last week so hard it broke the bolts off the gear case. UV joint gave away in the PTO. Bolted gear case back down, popped another UV joint in it, sharpened the blades and cut 8 acres with it this past Tuesday! Always keep an eye on those slip clutches to be sure they are free, they will seize up on any cutter.
I have heard lots of good things about Rhino. Just heard they bought Bush Hog, so that narrows it down a little.
I got a Hardee - thing is beginning to look a little worn - broke a blade about 8 years ago - other than that still going - new in '68 and has been USED BIG time. just sayin
I have a 6ft hardee offset, and a JD MX 10. I am looking for something between the two with a sloped deck and more robust gearbox.
Bush Hog
I'm in the middle of rebuilding the gear box on my 5' Bush Hog after 19 years of use. I missed the fact that the bottom seal gave out and drained the gear oil and proceeded to tear up the bearings and chew up the gears a little bit.
The housing has been reinforced a few times with plate steel, and the yoke has been upgraded to 3/4" steel, but other than that it should have a few more years left in it.
