Well it only took 28 yrs and 364 days, but Friday, the day before my birthday, I finally broke into the 10 lb club. My buddy told me Friday morning that the evening before he spent an hour and a half throwing every piece of plastic he had at her while she was on the bed. I told him I would send him a picture of me holding her up by lunch time. Pulled up to pond and found said "bed" that turned out to be about 5 ft by 5 ft and also housing two very nice 8 lb bass. I flipped a 5 inch cherryseed worm with no weight 3 times. Everytime it hit the water, all three fish swam off. went back to the truck, cut off worm hook and tied on a Betts panfish popper (garnett and black with brown and white feathers) and put two split shots up the line about a ft and a half since the bed is in about 3 ft of water. After 4 casts and a 2 minute standoff with the popper 1/4 inch from her lip, hook set, personal best landed. Thats also the closest I have ever seen to a fish completely straightening out a hook. When I got her out of the water, the popper fell right out of lip. Threw her and the rod in the back of the truck and hauled tail back to work. Weighed her in 20 min later at 11lbs 7 oz. Man, I wish I would have known she was there prior to her laying, might have pushed 13. Anyway, I will put her on a plane tomorrow headed for Wildlife Creations @ BPS in Springfield, MO. 6 mo turn around for a scenic pedistal mount. Sweet Birthday Present to myself!
