    Default 5/16 Offshore

Made the call to try it late Tuesday and loaded the boat. Left the dock at 6 and had lines in by 7:45 in about 250ft. Didnt take long to start working on them and stayed steady all morning. Scattered grass all morning and nice sized fish, pulled 3 20lb+ fish off the spreader bar with a pitch bait while fighting other fish. Found a huge weedline around lunch but didnt have anything with any size to(peanuts/slingers) it so we eased back towards the scattered grass and picked up a few more nice size gaffers. The bite slowed and we headed to the hill at 2. Made 30 on the way out and 35 on the way in, not a bad day on the water. Started catching fish in 275ft and pushed out to 700ft, most fish caught between 350ft and 500ft, heard some radio chatter about a fishless weedline in 1000ft. Only had 3 of us on the boat today and we got a pretty good workout. Getting her cleaned up for Islamorada the end of next week.

Damn right, good fishing. 3 guys catching fish in scattered weeds makes for a busy day reeling in lines cleaning off weeds and clearing lines for hookups.

That's the most grass I'd ever seen not to be holding fish or at least not to do any better that what we did. Had 2 billfish check us out, but didn't bite.

Yesterday looked better but that chance of NE wind made us go Wednesday. Sw all day. Spread out swell. Looked pretty shitty with all the thunderstorms in the am to. We dealt with the scattered grass since thats where the bigger fish were. Also saw a ton of flyers between 250 and 500, not so many deeper.

Nice ride. I have the the same boat in a smaller version with a yami. Can't beat the ride of a bluewater.
