    Default If I were looking...

...for a 16ga O/U, what would you recommend for me to look into?

I'd like a "nice" gun, but not something that I want to be worried about all of the time. This would need to be a gun that my son will one day be proud to have, but not something that is going to cost me $2k.

    Please advise.

That's where I would start. Hell at that price maybe get the wife a 20ga.

SxS 16's are much cooler than o/u's...just sayin.

    Citori 525 Field

I am assuming it's available in 16g.......mine has been great and should come in under your spending limit if you shop around.

Browning ran an uncatatloged batch of 16 ga Citoris a couple of times the last few years and I know you could get for well under $ 2000.00

x2 on the CZ. Haven't shot one in 16 ga. but have shot one in 12. It was a good feeling gun and i assume it would be the same in 16.

Whats wrong with a 12 ga? Finding 16 ga shells could prove to be problematic. Most are built on a 12 ga frame anyways.

No, it's true. 16ga SxS means MUCH more manpower than an o/u. I love stacked guns, but a 16 isn't meant to be built with vertical barrels.

My dad ran down two Browning 16's this year and bought them both. Fancy little guns.

A SxS plus a Barbour makes you cool in my book. I dare you to say that about a synthetic stock and feet gloves...

I would suggest a Browning Citori. They are out there in various configurations: Lightning, Gran Lightning, 525, Superlight, etc. I think Bishops in Fitzgerald, GA has a 525 on their site now (can't remember the price). I have a Superlight that I really like with 26" barrels. They are built on a true 16 ga frame.
