    Default Tamie Forecast

For some reason I don't get the SCWA magazine. What are the Duck Guru's at Rimini forecasting for the upcoming season? I have read the USFWS, DU, and Delta forecasts and duck numbers look good continent wide. For some reason the counts don't include the ducks that migrate out of the pen in Georgetown. Any word on the size of the flock? Did they have a good hatch? Can they fly this year? Last year's flock evidently had some serious problems with the whole flying thing. Did SCWA have plenty of fuel in the trucks for the migration?

Anyone have a handle on how many feedstore birds were dumped out this year? You know, by the tamie shooters who are tired of buying ducks that fly about as well as emu's so they raise their own? Somebody clue us in on what to expect this year!

They are flying good in Hampton and Jasper Counties! Seems most have lost their store bought birds and have had to re-stock for the opener... Just got off the phone with a fella who broke it all down for me. Well over 4,000 ducks un accounted for between a few "clubs".

I-26 Eastbound...Sorry for the shitty pic quality as it's hard to hold a phone, snap a pic and attack the left rear in spin inducing manner all at the same time as a lot of calculations have to be right when dealing with a duck trailer.....

Awww. Breaks my heart to hear that. They better go back to the non flying Georgetown strain. At least they can shoot a limit of swim-ups...

Awesome migration pic, Tater! Did you send it in to DU Magazine? They pay good money for great pics!

The tamie hatch I hear was pretty good this year, about 4 or 5000 strong just SCWA alone. Not to mention all the other Rimini tamie ponds. But all the adjacent landowners who actually have food will be enjoying the harvest, as the SCWA land did not have a good hatch of corn. New farmer obviously doesn't know what he's doing. Crying shame...

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Do any of you realize just how many are released each year? My best guess is around 500,000 just in SC.

You weren't, by any chance, in charge of the counts for the Million Man March were you?

A guy that would know just told me that on the low side it would be 200,000 and on the high side it would be 300,000.

That is a lot of ducks and money.

    Wrong.

I know of one guy that raises about 150K by himself. There are 4 to 5 different outfits that are raising ducks for sale, so if they just average 100k (which is low) that is 400k to 500k.

When you do the math it is amazing the numbers that are released and have been though out the years. I am talking about just SC. My guess is average of 500k for the last 10 years or so, at least the last 5.
