A new marina is planned on Lake Keowee in conjunction with a welcome center featuring Cherokee Indian history and artifacts.
Plans are under consideration for the marina and welcome center at the Keowee Town boat landing just north of Keowee Key, said Marion Lyles, an Oconee County councilman.
The plans, from South Carolina developer Robert Daffin and the Cherokee Tribe, have been referred to the county council's economic development committee.
"We see no reason not to approve it because it would be a huge improvement for the northern end up there," said Lyles, who is a member of the committee.

“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”
