Was watching a few 3-4lb bass Sunday in a pond. Grabbed a cicada, pulled one wing off and threw it on top of them. Looked like a gang initiation.

They’re loud in Chapin. Our chickens are hammering them.

I’ve heard them at two different places in Anderson county so far. The first batch was on 29 near the old Harley shop, and the other was down near big water marina. Sounds like 10,000 sirens at one time.

Mid 90’s a buddy and myself were fishing in Abbeville county. Look up and there was dude in a jon boat with a fly rod hooked into something that was dragging him all over the place. Eased over to see if he needed any assistance. Nope. He was catching the bell outta carp using cicadas.

You can hear them in the house here in McConnells. Been having to exit the woods by 8-8:30 in the mornings. They’re so loud you can’t hear a turkey gobble if you wanted to

I’m fortunate that my tinnitus sounds like crickets and cicadas.

I can hear em from inside the house for the past 3 weeks in prosperity. They swarming in the yard and tree tops. Watched the crows eat the ones on the ground today after it rained.

I read an article the other day about Newberry Co 911 getting calls because residents thought the loud noise was sirens.

They’re terrible at my house. They have been out about 3.5 weeks now. First day I heard them thought it was a neighbor's alarm system. No neighbors within couple hundred yards. So was listening trying to course the direction. So I got in truck and headed towards road. Stopped to listen again. Then I fought it was coming from a different direction back towards my house. So I gave up on whose alarm was going off. Got to looking on line and saw that they were starting to hatch. So many here they’re filling half my skimmer basket up every day or two falling into my pool. TVs volume stays high to drowned the sound out of them in the house. Get away from tv and you hear them no problem in the house.

So can I expect to see the same in Kershaw county soon, or is it more isolated? What about TN? MD? I know nothing about cicadas other than it seemed like a yearly thing growing up and collecting their shells.
