CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says a historical entrance sign that went missing last week was found in a college student’s dorm room.

The well-known “Welcome to Mosquito Beach” sign was reported missing by concerned citizens on Friday.

Charleston deputies said it was located in a dorm at Clemson University.

The sign is known for its vibrant colors and “Welcome to Mosquito Beach” written in cursive, the sheriff’s office said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

They say the sign has a lot of sentimental and historical value to the area’s residents.

    Deputies thanked the Clemson Police.

Pfft. It's not like one of them took a hammer to their most iconic and beloved symbol or something.
