    Default Magprill instead of lime?

Has anybody used Magprill instead of dolomitic lime to adjust their pH? I'm being told that instead of a ton per acre, they can spread 250 lbs. and get the same results while boosting the magnesium and calcium levels. It supposedly has about the same longevity. Anybody have any experience with it?

I’ve sold a couple hundred tons now, we are going to sample a field this month that we spread in January and see how it compares to the sample taken in September. I like the product.

I have used it for the past 2 seasons. Got it from Whackum's Bishopville cohorts. By it buy the ton in forklift bags and spread it with the whirlybird/tractor. Worked as advertised, and let me get in areas I wouldn't/couldn't send a truck to. Applied using the math that a ton of Magprill treats the equivalent of 8 tons of Ag lime. Two tractors on site or a mini ex on site makes it easier. Cost was less than the local guy charges to spread small quantities of ag lime.

Is there anyway to buy this stuff per bag vs in bulk? Or is bulk the only option?

I was told it comes in one ton bags. Ironically and luckily, that's exactly what my 8 acre field needed for the equivalent of one ton per acre of dolomitic lime.

Keep us updated please. Curious to know how fast it works also, since I believe lime takes about 6 months to raise the soil ph. I like what Slaya said about using it in places you wouldn't want to send a spreader truck or having to pay for someone else to spread it. Who are your cohorts in Bishopville? I've got a small farm in Cartersville and have been using Carolina Eastern in Lynchburg.

Sounds good! I just picked up a new hunting property and I'm taking soil samples tomorrow. Once I get the results I'll be in touch.

Does anyone know what the maximum amount you can spread of Magprill is before it starts being wasteful? I remember reading that more than a ton of lime per acre at a time doesn't increase results and was wondering if this was similar.

Used the solu cal with good results. Cuts spreader time too on small plots. Solu Cal say about two weeks to amend the soil. It is expensive per bag but about the same as four bags of pelletized lime.
