The low numbers don't surprise me since the weather has been so shitty, especially this week.

If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Missing you my great friend.
For 10 damn years straight now. Mother nature won't give them one decent Spring without this BS. Something has changed in weather patterns.
We get heavier rains earlier in the season and more frequent. Storm system are stronger and longer lasting.
The FMNF was already flooded in most of the bottoms I've been in. Now it's a total mess. Happens every year now.

I’ve killed two PM birds this year, one at 2:30 and one at 5:30. Both I was with for the entirety of the day since flydown. No bushwhacking, no reaping, fair and square, both died gobbling and strutting.
Although I killed them, I would be totally fine with a noon cutoff. Time spent in the woods kills more turkeys than anything else. Spend more than a couple hours at flydown, and the odds become increasingly in your favor.

Me, too. I'm headed to the woods with my children this weekend. Gonna use a blind, TSS, and a strutter on a remote control corvette to kill at least three longbeards, and maybe one more for myself. Won't call other than using my gobbler shaker. We plan to just sit over some fresh chufa and wait for the big boys to show up. Might even hunt all day just in case we can bushwack one late. I'll be sure to post some grip 'n grins early next week.

I don’t need any of that. I have a Colonel vest. I am better than all of you.
And taking kids after school. How about leave it the same and restrict decoys use and OOS hunters til april 10th. Be better to just do away w them but that’s not happening. Incentives for timber companies to burn again..
There have been years where they gobbled in the afternoon better than the mornings. That being said, afternoon hunters aren’t to blame for the decline in turkeys, weather, habitat and dick heads who go over the limit are.
Y'all better be glad I don't make the rules because I would propose the following:
• 2 Bird Limit
• April 1 - May 1 Statewide
• Resident 1 tag - $200 or 2 tags for $250
• Resident and Non-resident Youth Tags - $50/tag Max 2
• Non-resident 1 tag - $400
• 5 year suspension of license for untagged or unchecked bird
• 5 year suspension of license for hunting over bait
• 10 year suspension of license for killing a turkey over bait
• 75% of tag proceeds go towards habitat management incentives on private and state owned land
