    PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. —
South Carolina wildlife officers have made an arrest in a case of hunting dogs killed, officials said Tuesday.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said three beagles, called rabbit-hunting dogs, were reported shot and killed on Nov. 23, 2023, in the Dacusville area of Pickens County.

SCDNR officers arrived on the scene after the dogs' deaths were reported and collected evidence, officials said.

    Pickens County Detention Center

David Andrew Healy, of Pickens County, was arrested on Saturday and charged with three counts of ill-treatment of animals, first offense, and one count of entry on another’s land without permission to hunt, fish or trap, first offense.

The ill-treatment charges are felony offenses that each carry a potential penalty of up to five years and a $5,000 fine, if convicted, according to officials.

But why? Were they chasing his deer?
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.

So he was trespassing and shot another man’s dogs? That’s pretty bad…

I would be watching my back if it were me.

Apparently it's okay to kill a deer dog but killing a rabbit dog not so much?

I'm glad DNR cleared up that beagles are called rabbit-hunting dogs.

Sounds like trespassing to shoot someone else's dog is worse than shooting someone else's dog from your own front porch.
