    Default Christmas Tree Project

Last year, I put up a Christmas tree on my back deck using only strands of lights and my (overpriced but really nice) push pole. There was one or two NE winds that gave me pause and concern about my decision. So this year I am seeking an alternative. I thought about 3" PVC or even galvanized pipe, but I thought I might tap into the braintrust here first. From an engineering standpoint, I place the pole in the 60 degree angle in my deck railing and have no issue screwing what I need to make it secure. I would like for it to be no less that 10' above the railing which is ~30". All strands of light go to the top of the pole and anchor onto the deck railing with hooks. Whatcha got? Thanks in advance, MG

Maybe try using a few strands of small diameter cable and turnbuckles as guy wires? Wrap the strands of lights on them to make them disappear.
