    Default Colorado Antelope 2023

    IMG_1628.jpgIMG_0580.jpg

It was tougher hunting this year due to high winds almost every day but I killed a decent buck on day 4. I passed a few young mule deer this week while hunting a big 5x5. I got within 100 yards of him several times but swirling winds and steep open terrain made getting within bow range difficult. Despite eating the deer tag I’m already looking forward to next season.

How do you get close enough to an antelope to kill it with a bow, out there?

    Nice job!
    Yup, he's crazy...

like a fox. The dude may be coming in a little too hard and crazy but 90% of everything he says is correct.

Sort of like Toof. But way smarter.

I like shooting 4 pointers here. Congrats on the buck, and that's some incredible scenery. Were you hunting at your buddies place or on BLM/Forest land?

One of these days I need to go to Colorado again just to see what the hunting is like in that terrain. It'd sure be nice to archery hunt deer or elk in much more pleasant weather than September here. But the thought of my first Merriam turkey is sort of taking priority. Sure would be fun to chase them in that landscape.

I'd go insane watching a water hole from daylight to dark. I hunted over water from about 10am-2pm and deer hunted the rest of the time. Shot him at 10:30 on Tuesday.
