    Default 10mm guys

The thread in the trading post where someone said the 10mm is a great deer and hog gun has got me curious. I own a glock 20 that I got as a backup for all the deer/hog hunting I do (in my mind),and kept hearing how much better the 10 is than the 357 revolver i was toting.I've only ever bought target ammo,as paper is all I've ever shot with it, and I feel I'm not getting all the potential out of it. My question is, what ammo are yall shooting that puts the kibosh on deer and hogs? I like a bullet that hits like a truck and drops them.

Nothing that will fit in a Glock hits like a truck and will put them on the ground. It’s more like shooting a deer with a bow than a rifle. That’s how you should shoot them too, shot placement like you’re shooting with a bow. Unless you spine / brain them they run off and you’ll have to blood trail. Swift A frames are the best jacketed hunting bullets made. If your Glock likes them I would shoot these.

Flat nosed hard cast would be my second choice.

    Fair enough, thanks.
I really don't think my eyesight is good enough to technically "hunt" with a pistol, I'm more interested in a backup for say, a hog, coyote, or maybe a deer jumped between the truck and stand or vice versa. Thanks for the bullet suggestions, though, I'll definitely look into those.

Ive put down a deer, a cow and a pig with the 230gr double tap hard cast. My fil had shot the cow 3-4 times with his little 32 that he keeps for that purpose. Couldnt tell the cow had been shot. I popped it between the eyes with one of those cast bullets and it shook the cow like id hit it with a bat. Blood poured out if the nose and ears. My fil said what in the hell did you just shoot that thing with?

Imo though the 10 dont hold a light to a hot 357 as far as energy. But the 10 with those big heavy cast bullets, put two holes in stuff and penetrate. I like big heavy bullets. They work. 300gr in 44 and 45’s and 405’s in my 45/70’s.

In addition, if you plan to shoot cast or hot loads in 10mm glock, id advise getting an aftermarket barrel like a kkm with fully supported chamber and traditional rifling. Plenty videos explaining why
