I watched the videos on Instagram of the fish coming up dead and all, when they got it on board they were jacked up. Not a chance they were sleeping. I do know I talked to one of my buddies to find out why the weight never got posted and he told me the fish didn’t qualify and we figured it was short but they weighed it because it came up dead. Hate to think they would do this on the first Blue Marlin those guys have ever weighed in a Tournament on Billys new boat.

I can promise you no one was sleeping on the ride in with a fish like that on the deck.

Hell we had a much lesser fish one time and we had to break into the emergency stash.

Always kept a handle of Lord Calvert in the cabinet for just such occasions...nobody ever touched it. Much like throwing a 12 pk of Redbreasts in the tailgate cooler. Come back after the game and everybody would drink the coolers dry of BL and ML but every single one of those Diesels were still swimming around by themselves.

Billy and most of the crew were sleeping on the way in. Supposedly, one of the deckhands fill the fish with water. When it was discovered at the weigh in, the fish was disqualified and Billy sent the deckhand straight back to SC. Don't know if the guy is still on the payroll. I heard the fish was potentially worth $750,000. That's the version I was told.

That was last year, he has a heck of a fishing team and I honestly hope their version of the story is true. Problem is that kind of thing will follow you around like a blackeye regardless of accomplishments.
