So I’ve wanted a bigger chainsaw for a while, not out of necessity but really just for fun because of my inner Tim The Toolman Taylor. I’ve owned a 455 rancher for many years and it has been very good. Since I make zero money running a chainsaw and only use them on my farm I just couldn’t justify the cost of a professional chainsaw. I started looking into the Holzfforma chainsaw kits and watched several reviews and builds and decided I would try to build the 372xp for myself and see how it turned out. Besides the price being cheaper, I wanted to build the kit myself for the personal satisfaction and also for the knowledge of how the saws are put together. That way if something on this saw broke I could replace it with an OEM part if I wanted. The kit took me a couple hours to put together while watching a “bolt for bolt build” video on YouTube. I will say the hardest part of the build was compressing the chain break springs and trying to figure out which bolts to put where. During the build I went ahead and did a “base gasket delete” since my “squish” was 27 thousandths with no gasket. All in all for having never done anything like this before I think the chainsaw turned out great. Took it to the farm yesterday to cut up an oak that had blown down from a storm and was impressed with the performance. Longevity is the only question left to answer about this saw but since it will only be taken out to work maybe 10-20 days a year, I think it has a good chance. If you want to build this kit, there is one tiny o ring that does not come with the kit, husq part 503-26-30-19, this goes inside the crankshaft seal on the PTO side and is necessary. Also I would recommend the crankshaft assembly tool (part #502503015) for pulling the crankshaft into the bearings.
