I frankly think it's getting worse overall. Based on what I see going on within the families of friends. In the last 4 to 6 weeks:
- One friend lost her father (elderly) and his sister (elderly) within two weeks of each other.
- One friend lost her grandmother to it
- One friend lost her sister (mid-50s) to it
- One friend just lost her mother (late 50s, Lyme disease being the only other issue) to it after two weeks in ICU
- Son's old HS coack just got put in ICU.
- Sister in law works at a local family practice. They are treating IN OFFICE with O2 and IV's due to lack of space at the hospital.
The new mutation out of South Africa has the potential to make this much worse. No more lethal, but much more contagious. Even if the death rate stays the same as the current strain, do the math...
My SIL says it's time to diligently mask up, and she thinks it works. She's the medical professional and I will trust her. I don't see it (never have...) as any kind of political plot, but I do think that we are still figuring out what this thing does and does not do. I"m 58 years old. I'm taking precautions and waiting for the shot. I'm in group 1B so it should be relatively soon.
