Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Not my kind of music, but Tommy Emmanuel is generally considered the best there is......
Chet Atkins, Christopher Parkening, Yngwie Malmsteen
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

I'm a fan of the Spanish style, which may not do anything for someone else. I've listened to the live album below for 30 years and it still blows me away. I'll like most all genres, but as far as technical guitar, flemenco is hard to beat imo. Creativity, I give a lot of props to Zappa. I know technically they're not the best, but I've had Willie and Jerry solos damn near draw a tear.
Mark Knopfler
Jimmy Herring, Derek Trucks, Dickey Betts, Duane Allman, Warren Haynes...... basically the Allman Brothers
Mato Nanji. But I agree with the other choices as well
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
I will take Mark Knopfler as well. He plays with a blended precision that no one else exhibits. But, that is his own unique style.
I thought Prince was an interesting choice as well. I would not have thought of him, being a classic rock guy myself. However, they say he could play anything he put his hands on. He was an amazing musician.
Seen the Brothers several times at the Beacon theater in NYC !!
I love Stevie Ray don’t get me wrong. Prince could go to another level. Think I remember an interview where they asked Eric Clapton what it’s like to be the best guitarist in the world. And he said I don’t know. Go ask Prince.

The Hall of Fame has an exhibit showing that last song and he could, most definitely, rock the casba. I had a girlfriend leave a prince cd in my truck in college.... and without saying a word my cousin LCS saw it, rolled the window down, and tossed it out on I 95. Classic Beast move

Prince for me, but Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, and few others are right there. Some honorable mentions would be Randy Rhoads and Tom Morello.
A few good ones in this video.
