First off Ive NEVER planted food for deer. I had the fortune of growing up on a dairy farm and hunting large corn, alfalfa, and soybean fields. My new place is all hay and will be slowly converted to deer food, what I dont pasture.
Ive had no time for that this year but I just plowed and disked up a small pocket in a low spot in the woods next to a watering hole. Soil is very damp and black all summer but it never hold water. I wont soil test until this winter. Any suggestions as to whats best to spread and rake in?
