Default $7,000 in Fines by DNR in Georgetown County, Anyone Confirm?

We heard a story about two hunters getting fined $3,500 each on Saturday. Can anyone confirm that? If so, what in the world short of bitch slapping a LEO would warrant that amount of fines? Maybe tresspassing to hunt waterfowl? If you know but would rather not post, PM me and I will keep it confidential.

I can confirm that at that particular landing (name of landing withheld to protect the innocent and guilty) there were three DNR trucks and even more green jeans when we came back. They poured over our boat. The person that told us described the group that came in right behind us. So there were more than enough to make it happen. Thanks, MG

I hear you. I am not down for the rumor, but I did want to know what you got for $7,000. Out of all of the GW that were there, I did not notice any of them in Fed gear or a Fed truck, but that is not to say while dressed for 18 degrees that it might have been covered up. At least one of them spent time answering our questions regarding private land and recovery of birds without dogs. Damn, $7,000 will take the piss out of a man for sure. MG

A buddy of mine down in Florida had boat trouble a few years ago. Got back to the landing after dark. Game Warden was there waiting on him, figuring he was out night clamming. His party was legal in all aspects. Got to talking to the game warden, and he had busted two boys from Georgia the weekend prior. They had 60 Redheads. Said they had to get a ride home, because the game warden took everything they had that afternoon.

If they're stupid enough to bring an illegal amount of ducks to a public landing on a Saturday in Georgetown then they kind of had it coming.

I have been checked by the Fed's twice over the years. Both times, they had regular clothes on and in plain trucks with regular plates. The only thing that I could see that would identify them was when they pulled their badge out that was hanging around their neck. One was as nice a person as you could ever hope to meet. I try to avoid using the type of language that it would take to describe the other one. The only thing I will say about him is there wasn't a single thing left in the boat, that wasn't permanently attached to it, when he finally told us to have a nice day and walked off.

Probably wont get his title right but when I worked at Cache River NWR in college, the southeastern regional supervisor for all federal game wardens 'office' was at our headquarters. He was constantly traveling throughout the southeast to assist with stings and all sorts of crazy stuff, mainly drug related. He was definitely a serious dude. Honestly all of the fed wardens I interacted with seemed to have this same serious attitude. The supervisor tried to sell myself and another guy on becoming federal wardens, said with our degrees we could be a warden for 20 years retire, then go to work as a biologist for another 10 years and retire again. I said thanks but no thanks.

My group was checked by AG&F and the Fed's at the BM in the late '90s or early 2000's. To say they were all business would be an understatement.

I've made a few mistakes over the years that cost me a few bucks. I can tell you that you'd be very surprised at the monetary limits for some of the more innocent infractions! It's really up to the warden as to whether or not you get hit by the maximum fine or not. Sometimes it doesn't even have to do with your attitude during the interaction. For example.......I was fined $430 for not having a whistle in my boat while fishing down on the saltwater side of Bushy Park on the river one year!! I was as nice as could be during the stop and was shocked to not be able to find my whistle in my gun box. I was even more shocked to see the amount on the ticket I received!!
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL
