does anyone know how to calculate the btu's required to cool a cooler - I have built a deer cooler that is 6 ft x 7 ft x 8 ft tall (all inside measurements) the walls are 8 inch block filled w/ perlite and also has 2 inches of foam insulation board all the way around - the top has 14 inches of roll insulation - it sits on a concrete pad - I want to cool it 38 deg to 42 deg to hang deer in - I had a unit but was told it was too small and would not put out enought btu. I need to know the required btu a unit needs to put out to cool it.

    thanks for any help

From my understanding you shoud multiply the square ft by 25 and that would be the needed BTU.
    In your case 1,050 BTU's.

I think it is the number of cubic feet times 25 which would be 8,400 - I would get a bigger unit than that!
