    Default Seat base question

I'm sure I'm not the only one to deal with this. The plastic insert in my seat bases are getting old and brittle. As a result, the seats wobble around and don't stay as stable as they used to.

You can see where the seat wobbles and has scratched the paint. Has anyone come up with a solution for this? Does someone sell new inserts? I'm not inclined to replace the whole seatbase, and don't want to reinvent the wheel if someone has already come up with a solution.

    Thanks

Well, I guess I can answer my own question. Not sure why I couldn't think to call it a bushing.

It's easiest to drill them out by drilling a series of holes around the perimeter, assuming you don't have at least a 1" bit available. You might also need to file down the new one a little, or at least bevel the bottom edges to get it started in the hole.

    Good luck!

Most white plastic like that isnt UV stabilized. Replace with black bushings.

I went with black. Saw some brass ones, but opted for the black instead.

I don't anticipate getting the old ones out to be too much trouble. Not sure how much force will be needed to press a new one in. I'll update the thread when I get them.

I think hillside castings has them too. That's probably who made that base anyway.

Got the old one out easily enough last night, but the new one doesn't fit. Diameter is too small.

Which diameter? The hole or the bushing?

Did you buy the 5/8" bushing instead of the 3/4"?
