I have kept this quiet, for a requested time frame, so as not to stir pot and possibly hamper negotiations. That time has now transpired so I wanted to reach out to update and thank all of you who stepped up in supporting a common sense application and review of the aerial ignition growing season prescribed burns in our National Forest lands.
There are now talks ongoing between the NWTF and Forest Service with emphasis being placed on the analysis of aerial delivery ignition system and the harm this technique causes to wildlife in our National Forests.
Unannounced to the public, the NWTF even went so far as to change its burn stance with emphasis placed on large fast aerial ignition fires. This is truly a positive step.
Thanks to all who helped out, pitched in and supported the application of common sense to such an important topic for all wildlife.
This would not have happened without your help. It is certainly not over and will be monitored closely.
Some of you may have read the NWTF stance previously and know that is was 100% pro spring burn regardless of size, heat or speed.
The new stance can be read below.
Again , thank you !
