You caught that trolling??
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
It looks like a king rig.
Trolling for kings, live menhaden. Thing blew up size of football.

I've never seen one that big and definitely never heard of anybody catching one while trolling.

I know some are eaten as sashimi. Wonder if that's one of them?
Okay, after some quick Google-foo, I'll pass on cutting up random fish and eating them raw: http://www.lamag.com/digestblog/sush...lived-to-tell/

Taste like chicken.
Was it alone? By a lamp post?
mudflat,
If you ever say that a fish blew-up on your bait, I'll believe you.

I bet dolphins make him cry.
I had seen blowfish size of my hand many times, but I didn't even know that was a blowfish, till after he did such. Didn't have those rough belly scales like the little ones.

In the fall there are piles of little ones just outside the breakers. I pick them up while surfing. Most are about the size of a quarter when the fully puff but I have seen a couple the size of a dip can. They will stay normal size until you let the water drain out of your hands and puff immediately when they touch your skin. Cool little guys and easy to catch. They aren't the same species as yours. They are tan little fish.
Just by color design it like your is almost a pelagic fish - dark on top, silver on bottom, like a blackfin. Strange fish.
