I recommend that carry guns should be factory and run store bought ammo for reliability.

I am not very often the voice of reason. Hell, buy another one to trick out, lighten the slide, trigger, stipple or skate tape... Look at salient shields? But carry one ready to do work, "duty," "factory."

You can get a cheaper kit that doesn't have the trigger but I like this one and the reviews

There is some truth to it being better to do minimal mods to a carry gun. Changing sights is fine. Reducing the trigger pull can be problematic if you ever find yourself unintentionally letting one go under stress.

I do some light trigger work on my Glock's, but I don't put competition-level trigger pulls on carry guns. Everything else is benign.

I WILL end up putting an Apex trigger in my Shield - but I will be running it in back-up gun/off-duty gun competitions.

Just the Apex kit alone, without changing the trigger, may be sufficient.

I shoot a custom Bedell and an SVi with 1.5lb custom comp triggers, my carry gun is a stock glock 19 15+1 with some bonded 147 Ranger JHPs. I only carry a reload out of town, two in the car, one on the fly.... You can shoot the trigger in the gun. Go shoot it 100 times this week and 100 times next week instead. Do some surrender starts, and difinatly use your carry rig.
