    Default A Few Redheads

My South Texas pond was full of Redheads (Ducks) this winter. The most I've ever seen. As the time for their February migration neared, they would often engage in agitated behavior as a flock, usually in the afternoons before they took off the spend the night in the nearby bays. Here is video from two such afternoons. Comments from those knowledgeable about such strange behavior are welcome.

Looks like the porcupine hole with red instead of green. Would love to interrupt plans...

With my luck I could shoot into that pond and still not kill a drake redhead.

You have the same luck as me. I think I've killed 4 redheads to date and lost one. The one I lost was a drake.

Photos of redheads on my flickr site have about 100 times more views than photos of other ducks. I wouldn't have guess they were so popular.

Thing I like about them is that if you miss them the first volley, they always seem to come back and give you another chance.

Such a dumb duck. We killed 7 out of 8 in a flock once and the lone survivor swung around and tried to land at 20 yards.

If you haven't killed one you are in the wrong area or an idiot
Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

We had a group of five come in one time and we killed 4 off the rip. The last one kept coming back like 4 times, just about sitting, and we couldn't kill that bird to save our lives! I gave us enough time to put one shell in the gun each time it swung through.

as for the video. Simple. None of you ever swam in a circle in the bath tub when you were a kid?

They're fun, I'd enjoy doing it once again. It's one of the rare times, i put down a gun and picked up a camera.
