    Default Blind construction....

Looking forward to working on this one for the kids, my dad, and his friends..... Well, and me too!
16x8..... It's big but will be one where memories are made.
One of my dad's friends fell over on a marsh seat three times last year gunning ringers.
Shot water level off top of riser with laser to set floor height.
    More to come during construction....

And your point is, just like seeing RR ties and I could not get any, it is who you know, build on and hope your Dad out shoots all!

Sure. That was a great banquet. They run a good show. Good to see you. Ask Britt about trying to sneak a liquor drink past the guard.

So sinking 4,16' poles and getting them square is easier said than done!
I got em close enough for duck blind construction and sackreted in.
We have an abundance of old growth cypress that my dad cut out of Whippy Swamp back in the eighties and I have been hankering to use some for just such a project.
The floor is rough sawn, 12" by 1"thick clear cypress.
I hunted with Howard Harlan in his blind on Reelfoot back in the 90's and always wanted to model a blind after this style.
Back covered with kitchen, boat covered and port holes for each shooter on the front with 360 degree gunnin range!
I plan to accommodate 6 guns...

With my pilings being out of square, I ran the first board in the middle and trimmed on the outsides...

    Lazy ass brown dogs!

Had a couple of hours this afternoon so I laid out the dog door/platforms and the access to the blind.
All of this cypress was huge when harvested and some of it was slightly hollow and burned out.
I'd like to preserve some of the interesting character of the cypress so where possible I'm going to leave these burned ends.
I have a plan in mind but most of this is plan as you go!

    Counter sinking the galvanized lags...
